BLACKPOOL TO LIVERPOOL

Today I’m travelling to Liverpool from Blackpool North Station. The last time I visited the home of The Beatles was in 1993. Back then, I took the Merseyside Pullman service of British Rail from London Euston—a train that served a hot breakfast on a tablecloth right at my seat. More than 30 years later, I’m making the journey aboard a British Rail Class 331 Civity EMU, built by the Spanish manufacturer CAF and operated by Northern Trains.

ブラックプールの北駅からリバプールへ向かう。前回ビートルズの故郷を訪れたのは1993年のこと。その時はロンドンのユーストン駅から、テーブルクロスつきのホットブレックファーストを座席でとることができる英国国鉄の「マージーサイド・プルマン」サービスに乗って行った。それから30年以上が経った今日乗るのは、ノーザントレインズが運行するイギリス鉄道331形シビティ電車。シビティはスペインの鉄道車両メーカー、CAFが作っている。

There’s no tablecloth on this train, but it’s still a fine day for a rail journey.

車内にテーブルクロスはないが、最高の列車旅日和。
