THE WYRE CROSSING

At the mouth of the River Wyre, there is a pedestrian ferry service instead of a bridge to connect Fleetwood and Knott End-on-Sea, a village on the other side. The color of the river looks muddy and brownish, perhaps because of the sandbank around the river mouth. I enjoyed watching the way the color blended into the color of the sky and the Irish Sea during a five-minute one-way ride on the boat named Wyre Rose.

ワイヤ川の河口にあるフリートウッドと、ノット・エンド・オン・シーという対岸の村を結んでいるのは橋ではなく渡し船だった。河口周辺の砂堆のせいか、川の水は泥のような色をしている。ワイヤローズと名づけられた船による片道5分の旅に出てみたら、その色が空とアイリッシュ海の色に溶けていく様子を眺めることができた。
