BLACKPOOL DAYS

A Brit I met once told me that Blackpool is a bit of a dodgy place. I have to agree. For most visitors from outside the UK, there’s really no reason to come all the way to this seaside town. But for me, the blend of nostalgic charm, the breeze from the Irish Sea, and a slightly sketchy atmosphere was rather pleasing.

以前会った英国人は、ブラックプールはちょっと怪しげな場所だと言っていた。確かにその通りだと思う。イギリスの外から、この海沿いの街を目指してわざわざやって来る人はそう多くはないだろう。でも、ノスタルジックな味わいと、アイリッシュ海からの風と、若干の怪しさが混じり合った感じは結構気に入った。
