SONS OF NIPPON-GO

The “Nippon-Go” exhibition also features photos of aircraft that once belonged to the aviation department of The Mainichi Newspapers. This Mitsubishi MU-2B turboprop, named New Nippon, is a son of Nippon-Go, carrying the genes of Mitsubishi planes.

「ニッポン号展」にはかつて毎日新聞社航空部に所属した航空機の写真も展示してある。こちらは三菱航空機の遺伝子を受け継ぐ「ニッポン号」の息子、三菱MU-2Bターボプロップ「新ニッポン」。

This Piper was named Gyosei (Dawn Star). Coincidentally, it shares its name with the fictional newspaper company modeled after The Mainichi Newspapers in Tsubasa wo Kudasai—Freedom in the Sky, Maha Harada’s novel inspired by the story of Nippon-Go.

このパイパーの名前は「暁星」。偶然にも「ニッポン号」をテーマにした原田マハさんの小説「翼をください~Freedom in the sky」に登場する、毎日新聞社をモデルにした架空の新聞社と同じ名前。
