SAUDIA’S DOMESTIC WIDEBODY PART1

This afternoon I’m flying to Jeddah, the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia, on Saudia’s domestic flight. A great thing about a boarding gate in T5 of King Khalid International is that each jet bridge has two gates—A and B—and one of them is assigned to Sky Priority boarding. This is a wonderful idea to avoid the mess of a regular zone-system boarding, which can be seen at airports around the world. However, the dual-gate boarding bridge is only possible at terminals that have enough space to build it.

今日の午後はサウジアラビアで2番目に大きな都市、ジェッダへサウディアのドメ便で飛ぶ。キング・ハーリド・インターナショナルのT5ではジェットブリッジ1本につきAとBという2つのゲートが用意され、そのうちの1つがスカイプライオリティのボーディングで使われる。これは世界中の空港で目にしてきたゾーン式ボーディングによるカオスを避けられる実に素晴らしいアイデア。とはいえ、スペースにたっぷり余裕があるターミナルにしかこんなことはできないが。
