THE QUEEN OF THE COTSWOLDS

While approaching Cotswold Airport, the Queen suddenly came into my sight. G-CIVB was delivered to BA in 1994 and repainted in the retro Negus color before its retirement to celebrate the airline's 100th anniversary. The Negus livery was the first BA livery following the merger of BEA and BOAC and represents BA birds in the '70s and '80s.

コッツウォルズ空港に近づいていったら、女王が突然目に飛び込んできた。G-CIVBは1994年にBAにデリバーされた機体で、英国航空の100周年を記念してリタイアの前にネグスのレトロカラーに再塗装されている。ネグス塗装というのは、BEAとBOACが統合したあとBAが最初に採用した、70年代から80年代のBA機を象徴するカラースキーム。

Luckily, this particular 747-400 avoided being scrapped and came here for preservation in 2020. Note that the iconic Speedbird, which is still used as the call sign for any BA plane flying around the world, is visible under the cockpit windows. The engines are, of course, Rolls-Royce. What a beauty. I'm in awe.

この747-400は幸運にもスクラップになる運命を避けることができ、2020年からこの場所で保存されている。現在でも世界中を飛び回るBA機のコールサインであるアイコニックなスピードバードがコクピットウィンドウの下に入っていて、エンジンは当然ロールスロイス。なんという美しさ。畏怖の念さえ覚える。
