A WELSH ROAD TRIP: WHERE A RIVER MEETS THE SEA AND THE RAIL

I drove my Vauxhall along Afon Mawddach, which runs from the Snowdonia mountains and has a dynamic sandy estuary, and came to a seaside town called Barmouth. The town has a charming beach facing the Irish Sea and a long railway bridge built in the 19th century, which is said to be one of the oldest still in use in Britain. The view of the sea and the river merging around the iconic railway bridge is stunning.
