A DOMESTIC FLIGHT IN AN INTERNATIONAL CABIN

My domestic ANA flight today from Kansai to Haneda is operated by the international version of the 787-8, featuring a spacious Premium Class cabin originally configured as business class with 42 seats. This aircraft, JA807A, was delivered in 2012 as one of the early Dreamliners for the launch-customer airline. So it experienced and survived the 2013 global grounding caused by the onboard battery issue.

今日僕が乗るANAのドメ線関空発羽田行きには787-8の国際線バージョンがアサインされた。プレミアムクラスは42席あるビジネスクラスキャビンをそのまま使っているので、とても広々としている。このJA807AはローンチカスタマーであるANAが飛ばしているドリームライナーの中でもごく初期に導入された一機で、デリバリーは2012年。ということはつまり、バッテリー問題が発端となって2013年に起きた787の全世界運航停止を経験した機体。

The Premium Class (Business Class) cabin is divided into two sections, with the L/R2 doors in between. A small bar unit sits by the doors, though it’s, of course, unused on this short domestic route.

この機のプレミアム（ビジネス）クラスキャビンはL/R2ドアを真ん中にして、2つのセクションに分かれている。ドアの横には小さめのバーユニットがあるが、もちろん短距離国内線では使われない。

Right after descending over my neighborhood, we are on final into Haneda RWY 16L from the north. Before touching down, I could enjoy the mesmerizing views of Tokyo Tower, Rainbow Bridge, and the campus of the university I graduated from. ANA B787-8 KIX-HND. The 836th flight in my lifetime.
