MY PILGRIMAGE: BOEING FIELD

Boeing Field—officially known as King County International Airport —has one of the most fascinating names for an avgeek like me, and it’s also home to The Museum of Flight. It served as Seattle’s main airport until Sea-Tac opened in the late 1940s.

ボーイングフィールド。正式名称、キング郡国際空港。僕のような航空オタクにとっては最も魅力的な空港の名前。ミュージアム・オブ・フライトはここにある。1940年代後期にシータックが運用を始めるまでシアトル地域のメインエアポートだった。

A long time ago, this airport had some jet services. Now it serves as a base for Boeing’s test and delivery flights, as well as for cargo and general aviation. Kenmore Air, a Washington State–based regional carrier, still offers scheduled passenger service here, and you can check in inside the vintage terminal building.

かなり以前にはジェットでの定期便もあったようだが、今ではボーイングのテストフライトやデリバリーフライト用、そしてカーゴやジェネラルアビエーション用の空港として使われている。ワシントン州ベースの地域航空会社であるケンモアエアはこの空港に発着する定期旅客便の路線を持っていて、クラシックなターミナルの中でチェックインできる。

This is a paradise filled with countless Boeing logos.
