TRAIN RIDES TO ANCIENT JAPAN

Today I take trains from Kintetsu Nara Station to see some history. First is an Osaka-Namba–bound suburban semi-express service of Kintetsu Railway using the 5800 series EMU with the ”Dual Seat” that can be rotated to change the direction the seat faces.

今日は歴史を見に行くために近鉄奈良駅から電車に乗る。まず最初は近鉄の大阪難波行き区間準急。車両はロングシートとクロスシートを切り替えられる「デュアルシート」を積んだ5800系電車。

Changing trains at Yamato-Saidaiji Station—a major junction station in the Nara area—to an express service on the Kashihara Line.

奈良エリアの主要ジャンクション、大和西大寺駅で橿原線の急行に乗り換える。

Arrived at Nishinokyo Station, right by Yakushi-ji temple. The station name implies this is the west of an ancient capital.

そして薬師寺の最寄駅、西ノ京駅に到着。いにしえの都の西側にあたることを示す駅名。

The Kintetsu Railway 50000 series EMU used for the Shimakaze limited express service is gracefully passing through the station.

特急しまかぜとして運用される近鉄の50000系電車が優雅に駅を通過。
