SHISUI, A LUXURY COLLECTION HOTEL, NARA: ZEZE TEA HOUSE

Upon returning after a day of exploration, the hotel invited us for an pre-dinner drink at their Saryo (tea house) Zeze, on Shisui’s premises. The tea house was transformed from the former Seson-in Temple, built in the Edo era. It’s quite impressive how well the hotel preserves and utilizes these historic—and often hard-to-maintain—buildings.

盛りだくさんの一日を終えて帰ってきたら、ホテルが敷地の中にある茶寮「世世」でのプリディナードリンクに招待してくれた。このティーハウスは江戸時代に建立された世尊院という寺院の建物を使っている。紫翠はこのように、おそらくは維持管理がそれほど簡単ではないであろう歴史的建造物を上手に活用していて素晴らしい。
