VAN'S RESTAURANT

If you have to leave Phnom Penh tomorrow, this is the place for your last dinner in town—a French restaurant housed in a more-than-100-year-old French colonial–style former Indochina Bank building. The massive bank vaults still lie beneath the dining room. When I stepped out after dinner, the surrounding darkness reminded me of Shanghai in the early ’90s.

明日プノンペンを立たなければならないなら、最後のディナーはここで。100年以上の歴史を持つ元インドシナ銀行だったフレンチコロニアル様式の建物にあるフレンチレストラン。大きな金庫室が今でもダイニングルームの真下にある。食後に店を一歩出ると、90年代初頭の上海を思い出させる暗闇に包まれた。
