GLORIOUS WINGS II

This remarkable photo book, published in 1992, was a gift from Mr. Ryu Koakimoto—aviation journalist, travel writer, former correspondent, and member of the Nikon Kenkyukai (Society). Its pages are filled with beautiful photographs of passenger aircraft, from the 1920s Handley Page to the Airbus A330/340, including pre-war seaplanes and rare French birds. Mr. Koakimoto himself contributed a chapter on piston-engine airliners. This book reminds me how much more there is to learn about commercial aviation.

1992年に出版されたこの素晴らしい写真集は、航空ジャーナリストであり、トラベルライターであり、元特派員であり、ニコン研究会会員でいらっしゃる小秋元龍さんからのプレゼント。1920年代のハンドレページからエアバスA330/340までの旅客機の美しい写真で埋め尽くされたページの中には、戦前の飛行艇や珍しいフランス機の姿もある。レシプロ旅客機を取り上げた章をお書きになっているのは、小秋元さんご本人。この本は、エアライナーについて僕が学ばなくてはならないことはまだまだ沢山あると教えてくれる。
