GLOUCESTERSHIRE WARWICKSHIRE STEAM RAILWAY: OUTBOUND PART1

While driving near the village of Broadway, I came across a small station for a heritage railway. So I parked the car, walked up to the station, checked the timetable, and saw that the next train was about to depart. I couldn’t resist and hastily bought a round-trip ticket. The station staff said, “Go to Mary and get on. It’s first class and nicer.” The carriage was a classic British Rail Mark 1, and to my delight, the ticket was printed on thick cardboard. All aboard—even though I have no idea where it’s going.

ブロードウェイの村のそばをクルマで走っていたら偶然、保存鉄道の小さな駅を見つけた。そこで車をとめ、駅まで歩いて時刻表をチェックすると、次の列車がまもなく出発するではないか。当然見過ごすことはできず、急いで往復切符を購入。すると駅員さんが「メアリーにお乗りなさい。ファーストクラスなので良いですよ」と言ってくれた。客車は元英国鉄のマーク1型。うれしいことにチケットは硬券。どこへ走っていくのかよくわからないが、とりあえず出発進行！
