TRAIN 051B ZVEZDA PART4

I survived a 4-hour ride on a hard seat and arrived at Brest-Tsentralny railway station. Now I say good-bye to the ChS4T electric locomotive, built by Škoda Works in Czech, that took me here.

硬いシートの上での4時間をなんとか乗り切り、ブレスト中央駅に到着。ここまで連れてきてくれた、チェコのシュコダ・ワークス製ChS4T電気機関車にさよなら。

For train geeks, Brest is known as a point for train regauging. The 1,520 mm Russian/CIS track gauge meets the 1,435 mm European standard gauge (same as Japan's Shinkansen tracks) at this station. There is a special site for bogie exchange of trains near the main station building.

鉄道マニアなら、ブレストがゲージ変更ポイントであることを知っているだろう。ロシア&CISで使われている1,520mmの広軌と、ヨーロッパで使われている1,435mmの標準軌（日本の新幹線軌道と同じ）がこの駅で出会う。駅舎の近くには台車交換用の特別な設備もある。
