AT THE FOOT OF MOUNT YUFU

Walking around the town of Yufuin. The majestic view of Mt. Yufu is dazzling, but its commercial center feels overly touristic and needs a more sophisticated concept. To begin with, there should be a unified way to write the town’s name in kanji characters. At the moment, two different versions are in use, which only adds to the confusion. Perhaps it’s time for a local plebiscite?

湯布院の街を歩く。由布岳の雄大な風景はな見事だか、中心市街地は俗化し過ぎていて、もっと洗練されたコンセプトが必要。まずは混乱のもとになっている「由布院」と「湯布院」という二つある漢字表記を統一したほうがいい。住民投票でもやったらどうだろう？
