DELTA'S KIDDIE WINGS

This is a new addition to my aviation museum—Delta’s kiddie wings. According to an article I found online, Delta has two kinds of kiddie wings: gold and silver. The silver version is handed out by flight attendants, while the gold one is given by cockpit crew. The article also notes that Delta began distributing these wings in 1958—in the pre-jet age, when the airline was flying DC-7s. It’s a tiny memento, but you can’t underestimate its tradition.

僕の航空ミュージアムに加わったニューアイテム、デルタのキディウイング。ネットで見つけた記事によると、デルタは金と銀の2種類のウイングを用意していて、この銀色はフライトアテンダントが、金色の方はコクピットクルーがくれることになっているらしい。デルタがキディウイングを渡すサービスを始めたのは、ジェットエイジ以前の、まだDC-7を飛ばしていた1958年のこと、とも書いてある。ごく小さな記念品だが、その伝統は馬鹿にできない。
