NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW

A sudden shower over Waikiki. The bar at The Modern Honolulu—a design-driven boutique hotel adjacent to Ala Wai Yacht Harbor—became the perfect shelter for me. The hotel opened in 2010 as one of the first two Edition-brand properties launched by Marriott to compete with W Hotels, but it reportedly ran into some issues and later split from the Marriott group. It’s now part of the Honolulu-based Aqua Hotels chain. Anyway, I’m chilling out here with a milkshake until the rain stops.

ワイキキの街に、にわか雨。そこでアラワイ・ヨットハーバーの隣にある、ちょっとデザイニーなブティックホテル「ザ モダン ホノルル」のバーで雨宿りをする。このホテルはマリオットがWに対抗するために作った「エディション」ブランドの最初の2軒のうちの一つとして2010年にオープンしたのだが、何か問題があってマリオットと別れたらしい。今はホノルルをベースとするアクアホテルズの一部になっている。ともあれ、雨が止むまでミルクシェイクを飲みながらここでのんびり。
