POEMOTION

An art director, my friend, my former colleague at Dentsu, and a true design prodigy—Takahiro Kurashima—has published a book titled Poemotion with Lars Müller Publishers in Switzerland. The abstract graphical patterns in this book come to life when you move the attached special sheet across them. It proves that even a paper book can contain motion graphics—and that interactivity doesn’t always belong to the digital world. Takahiro first sent his book to Lars Müller simply to see what they would say. The renowned European publisher—known for its exceptional books on design, architecture, photography, and art—decided to publish it right away. Poemotion is also available on Amazon, and the Poemotion Exhibition will be held in Kanazawa this coming April.

友人で電通時代の同僚でデザインの奇才、アートディレクターの倉嶌隆広君が「Poemotion」という本をスイスのラース・ミュラー・パブリッシャーズから出版した。本の中にある抽象的なグラフィックパターンの上で添えられた特別なシートを動かすと、そのパターンが動き出す。紙の本でもモーショングラフィックは描けるし、インタラクティブ性とは必ずしもデジタル環境の中だけにあるものではない。そんなことを気づかさせてくれる一冊。どう思われるか知りたくて、とりあえずラース・ミュラーにこの本を送ったところ、デザイン、建築、写真、アート関連の優れた書籍で知られるこの著名な出版社はすぐに出版を決めたのこと。「Poemotion」はアマゾンでも販売中。この4月、金沢でPoemotion展も予定されている。
