AMANSARA: A MERCEDES WITH A STORY

We’re just moving to the Raffles Hotel across the street. However, Amansara has prepared a historic 1965 Mercedes for us. This beautiful limousine was originally acquired by Cambodian royalty and later seized by the Khmer Rouge. It’s said that when the Vietnamese military expelled the Khmer Rouge, the car was abandoned and left on the street until someone found it still intact. In a strange twist of fate, this very car now serves Amansara. While the engine has been replaced, much of the interior remains in its original condition.

ただ道の向いのラッフルズに移るだけ。でもアマンサラは僕たちのために歴史的に貴重な1965年のメルセデスを用意してくれた。この美しいリムジンはもともとカンボジア王室のものだったが、その後当然のようにクメールルージュに奪われた。やがてベトナム軍に追われると、クメールルージュはこの車を道の上に放棄。誰かがまだ動くことに気づくまで、ずっと捨てられた状態だったらしい。奇妙な運命の巡り合わせにより、今はアマンサラで使われている。エンジンは交換されたものの、インテリアの多くはオリジナルのまま。

The destination is just next door, but two Amansara staff members took the time to make a detour around downtown Siem Reap. This isn’t hotel transportation—it’s a parade.

目的地はお隣りなのだが、2人のアマンサラのスタッフはわざわざシェムリアップのダウンタウンを迂回してくれた。送迎というよりも、まるでパレード。
