THE RENAISSANCE OF TOKYO STATION

The reconstruction of the original dome of Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi Building—lost in air raids during WWII—is underway, and it looks like completion is near. From here at the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi, you can also see a smaller onion-shaped dome. I can’t wait for the reopening of the Tokyo Station Hotel inside this historic red-brick terminal, originally designed by architect Kingo Tatsuno.

第二次大戦中の空襲で失われた東京駅丸の内口のドームを、オリジナルの形状に戻す工事が進んでいる。どうやら完成は近い模様。ここフォーシーズンズホテル丸の内 東京から眺めると、タマネギ型の小さなドームも作られているのがわかる。建築家・辰野金吾によるこの歴史ある赤レンガのターミナルに入っていた、東京ステーションホテルの再オープンが待ちきれない。
